GreenFaith - The Climate Finance Summit starts today!!

Today GreenFaith is launching No Faith in Fossil Fuels: A Climate Finance Summit. (You can still register here– we’ll send everyone who registers all the recordings and resources.)

I’ve spent much of the last 12 years of my life organizing around climate finance in my Christian denomination. It’s been really hard and really exciting. I’ve done that because in the Bible Jesus says that “Where our treasure is, there our hearts are also” (Matthew 6:21). And, many religions understand that what we invest in names our values. God calls us to invest in each other and a livable planet for all.

Big banks like Bank of America and Citibank and asset managers like BlackRock continue to pour billions of dollars into fossil fuel infrastructure. They’re investing in a climate crisis that warms our planet to alarming degrees, disrupts fragile ecological systems, and destroys the livelihoods of people all over the world. This is unjust and wrong.

When we demand that banks and asset managers invest in climate justice, we act with bold faith. When we witness the faith of grassroots organizers around the world, we see the power of people. Together, we can build a more just and compassionate world.
