NOW is the time for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to become more efficient in processing applications to reduce the extremely long wait times!  USCIS processes millions of applications every year for immigrants, however the processing times are extremely long depriving immigrants of basic rights like work and travel.  Please sign this petition to help us put an end to this inefficient system and build a better one that provides a fair and reasonable process for immigrants who are submitting applications that their entire future relies on!  To improve the USCIS system we need the following:  Reduce the extremely long processing times Provide the applicants with more detailed and accurate information about their case with expected decision dates Immediate approval for document renewals if all the applicant’s information remained the same (even if there is a status change)  TPS status should not be a status preventing denied Asylum cases from being referred to an immigration judge Reasonable available dates for visa interviews, otherwise eliminate the need for interviews by conducting online reviews of the applications As immigrants, we are grateful for the opportunities we have in the United States. However, it is very difficult for us when we have to wait months and sometimes even years for our application to process without knowing if it will be approved or denied. Without any guidance or information from USCIS, it is almost impossible to plan for the future and figure out what our next steps should be.  USCIS received about 9.1 million applications, petitions, and requests for benefits in the fiscal year 2021. Thousands of immigrants are waiting on approvals for their applications on a daily basis. USCIS processes various different applications including employment authorization cards that make immigrants legal to work, temporary protected statuses for citizens of various countries that provides temporary legal status, travel documents and many more types of immigration actions.   After submitting an application, the only information the applicant is provided with is that the application has been received on XX date and the average processing time for this type of application (which changes on a daily basis and is only based on 80% of the applications). If an application is taking longer than expected, the applicant basically can’t do anything about it other than wait or continue to follow-up without getting any useful information. Many applicants are negatively impacted by these long wait periods: many can’t legally work to get income to survive and others can’t travel to see a severely ill loved-one. These are just two of many heart-breaking scenarios impacting immigrants all around the United States.
