The Youth Congress is convening under theme “Africa, My Home, My Future.”

The climate litigation training is geared toward young people interested in contributing to tangible hope for children by addressing the root causes of the climate emergency using the legal landscape.

The training will provide an introduction to the new WCC resource Hope for Children Through Climate Justice, which includes legal tools adapted to various contexts and capacities. The session will include examples and testimonials on powerful yet under-utilised levers to accelerate climate solutions.

Grounded in faith, the handbook aims to plant seeds for intergenerational justice, and empower churches to protect the lives of children and future generations.

Participants in the training will discuss why churches are invited to consider legal action, why the WCC has launched a legal action project for intergenerational climate justice, and why focusing on financial actors is strategic.

Examples from South Africa will illustrate the points being made during the training.
