Dear Friend of Presbyterians for Earth Care,
As 2025 draws to a close, your inbox and mailbox will fill with appeals from many worthy causes. We know the needs are great—but Presbyterians for Earth Care (PEC) stands apart.
PEC is not just an organization; it’s a faith-driven community rooted in God’s call to care for creation. Our ministry is sustained by the creativity and dedication of volunteers who write, teach, lead, and inspire others to live out environmental stewardship as an act of discipleship. Our three part-time staff members work from home, allowing your gifts to go directly toward programs, resources, and advocacy that make a difference.
In a world of division and uncertainty, PEC offers something rare: hope grounded in faith and community. For 30 years, we have equipped Presbyterians of all ages to take faithful action for the Earth and one another. After passing Presbyterian Church (USA)’s 1990 Restoring Creation for Ecology and Justice Report, The Rev. Rebecca Barnes described PEC as an “amazing grassroots network full of wise, wonderful, and passionate volunteers that galvanized, organized trainings and conferences, published a regular newsletter, and distributed devotionals. You have really helped our denomination focus on caring for God’s creation, to stretch and grow in terms of what eco-justice means for Presbyterians, and to hold us all accountable to keep this work going. Thank you.”
And thank you, members and friends of PEC! While our history is rich and deep, we are also looking ahead. Our new CANOPY initiative (Creation Action Network of Presbyterian Young Adults) empowers people aged 18–35 to bring new energy and vision to this vital work, both within the PC(USA) and beyond.
Together, we are nurturing creation, strengthening community, and living out God’s call to creation stewardship. Thank you for walking this journey with us.
With gratitude and hope,
Rev. M. Courtenay Willcox
