Did you see my article in the Outlook?

Take pictures and expose the lie
Did you see my recent article in the Presbyterian Outlook?

I talk about why we have only seen an increase in deaths from gun violence in our nation, despite decades of public commitment to ending gun violence in the Presbyterian Church.

"The primary reason is that we have underestimated the greed and political power of the gun industry, whose profits soar with every school shooting."

"We have also underestimated its ability to exploit our fears and create its own culture. Because a gun is a non-consumable product (meaning it lasts indefinitely – it does not get used up like toilet paper or wear out like a car), gun manufacturers must create continual demand for their products and bring in new customers to keep their factory doors open.

The simple fact is that nothing sells guns better than gun violence, according to a 2022 NewsNation article. The more gun violence we have, the more people buy guns. And the more guns we have, the more gun violence we have.

This continuous, self-sustaining loop only benefits the gun industry by promoting gun sales and also the politicians who cater to gun extremists for votes."

It's time that we take powerful action to put pressure on the source of the violence: the gun industry.

📸 Will you take action with us?

As you go to the store looking for summer goods - like balls, camping goods, etc., take a picture of how guns, if any, are displayed in the stores. Use social media to call out businesses that have guns where children or youth under 21 can see the guns. Tell them you don't want your kids exposed to deadly weapons when buying groceries, toys and other tools. Post a photo of the gun display with a caption like the one below. Be sure to tag us!
The leading cause of death for children and youth is guns. I don’t want my kids exposed to deadly weapons when buying a soccer ball.
@Walmart stop exposing kids to their killer.

Let's start exposing the lie for what it is: a false promise. We must free ourselves from the deception that guns will keep us safe. Our kids are worth more than any profit.
With determination and hope for our kids,
