Hello all you wildlife advocates, carers and everyone else who just loves animals. We need your help to convince Bunnings to stop stocking glue traps of any description. As you can see in the images, glue traps cause horrific pain and suffering to any animal that comes in contact with them. It can be days before the creature succumbs to death via dehydration and starvation. Animals have been known to tear off, or bite through, their own limbs in an attempt to free themselves. Yahoo News Australia ran a story specifically about the sale of these products and the Bunnings representative stated that whilst they complied with all Australian laws for selling glue traps they were also aware of the risks associated with the products they sell, on birds and other wildlife. This company is aware of the consequences yet they still sell them because they can ……. legally. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. We are hoping to fill the inbox of the people in Bunnings who can stop this. These people can make a big difference and maybe we can get a win for wildlife which can be few and far between at times. We are asking Micheal Schneider as the Managing Director of the Bunnings Group and part of the Wesfarmers management team to remove ALL glue traps from Bunnings shelves. We are calling on all sellers of the horrific devices, including eBay and Amazon, to stop selling glue traps. We are asking Bunnings, Chief Operating Officer, Mr Ben McIntosh if he will help in getting Bunnings to uphold community standards for environmental responsibility and animal welfare. This one can be won if enough of us get involved. No creature deserves this fate. | |||||||||||||||
