![]() You’re receiving this because you’ve stood with us—again and again—for climate justice. When it matters, you show up. And right now, we need you. Just before Earth Day, Big Oil advocates in Washington pushed forward federal legislation that would grant them sweeping legal immunity for the harms that they've caused, and I am asking you to sign our multi-faith letter to stop fossil fuel immunity and share it as widely as you can with others. I’m Tracey, GreenFaith’s New Jersey organizer. For the past year, I’ve been working alongside 140+ partners to advance Make Polluters Pay legislation—because when corporations cause harm, they should help repair it. So when this bill was filed—quietly, on a Friday before Earth Day—to give Big Oil legal immunity, I took it personally. Because I know what this means for our communities. It means people here in New Jersey, already facing floods, storms, and rising costs, could lose their right to seek justice. It means shifting responsibility away from polluters and placing burdens onto families. And it threatens to override the progress we’re making towards accountability for Big Oil and a just energy transition—not just in New Jersey, but in states across the country. Across our faith traditions, the principle is simple: This bill tries to ignore that responsibility. That is clearly wrong. That’s why the most important thing you can do right now is sign—and share—the faith letter to stop immunity. Please share it on social media, text and email the link to as many like-minded individuals as you can. We need a visible, moral outcry that Congress cannot ignore. Are you as upset about this as we are? Want more ways to push back?
We’re building a firewall in New Jersey. Now we take it national. With faith and determination, |
