GreenFaith - From CERAWeek to What Comes Next

Last week at CERAWeek - the “Super Bowl” of the fossil fuel industry - executives and political leaders gathered to advance the expansion of oil and gas. At the same time, hundreds of people came together in Houston to challenge that vision and demand a different future. All images by Heather Johnson GreenFaith showed up alongside partners to bring a clear moral voice: our future must be rooted in justice, not extraction. As reported in The Houston Chronicle, people gathered to “confront energy leaders and assert community power against environmental degradation.” That spirit shaped everything we did. The Devil Goes to CERAWeek Here’s what we built together: A visible moral presence — People of faith joined hundreds in protest, making it clear that fossil fuel expansion is not just a political issue, but a moral one. A powerful shared message — Through our “Energy from Heaven or Energy from Hell?” framing and creative “bedeviling” actions, we named the real choice before us: life-giving renewable energy or continued harm. Culture as resistance — From our protest song-writing workshop - hosted by the GreenFaith Houston Circle -  to public actions, we strengthened community, courage, and collective voice. Public witness beyond the streets — We placed an op-ed in a national religious publication, bringing this moral framing to a wider audience Watch the videos here. This is a critical moment to demand a just transition. Take action today:  Sign the global multi-faith letter calling for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. This is how we build momentum — from the streets of Houston to global decision-making spaces. Together, we can push for a future powered by justice, care, and renewable energy.
