Already this week, thousands of people of faith and spirit have stepped forward in worship, witness, and action. Our cosponsor Earth Quaker Action Team opened Sun Day by challenging Vanguard to stop financing climate destruction, demonstrating the courage that comes from deep moral conviction. In San Diego, GreenFaith joined a spirited Picnic for a Solar Future, where families, students, and advocates broke bread together under the open sky, lifting up solar energy as both a shared right and a practical path toward justice. In New York City, faith leaders convened for Multifaith Monday in Columbus Circle, embodying the power of interfaith solidarity. This morning, our New York faith leaders and activists led an Interfaith Jericho Walk, grounding themselves in prayer before marching in solidarity with immigrant communities—linking the struggle for climate justice with the fight for human dignity. And this is only the beginning. Across the country, Sun Day is unfolding in dozens of communities—22 in New Jersey alone. Solar picnics, film screenings, art-builds, pilgrimages, marches: each gathering is an expression of faith turned into action. Together, they proclaim a simple truth—that people of spirit are ready to confront the climate crisis with hope, courage, and a vision for a livable future. On Sunday, September 21st, GreenFaith’s Founder and Executive Director, Rev. Fletcher Harper, will lead the Snorkel March for Clean Energy in Secaucus, NJ. With snorkel masks and signs in hand, his congregation and neighbors will dramatize the threat of rising seas in their community and call on local leaders to act boldly for clean energy. Their witness is both playful and prophetic, a reminder of what’s at stake and what we can build together.
