Security Advisory for AME Members from the Chief of AME Global Security

On 03 February 2025, a DC Superior Court judge ruled that a U.S.-based domestic violence extremist organization would surrender all of its interest in its trademarked name to one of our African Methodist Episcopal churches that the group had victimized.  This landmark victory brought us back to the forefront of attention for some violent extremists.

On 05 February 2025, a list professing to delineate spending by a U.S. government international development agency circulated around right-wing propaganda social media sites.  On the list, the only faith-based recipient of funding listed is our African Methodist Episcopal Service and Development Agency.

From these misunderstandings of our mission and identity as a church and the increase in social media attention, it is likely that we will see increases in harassment or even criminally threatening behaviors.  We ask that you remain vigilant to suspicious behaviors; be calm and deliberate in your response to crimes and attempted criminality; and always report crimes first to your local authorities, usually by calling 9-1-1.  When it is safe and appropriate to do so, please also contact the Director of Global Security at acromwell@amecfo.org or +1-305-710-5653.

  • We will ensure that proper resources are made available.
  • We will ensure that investigators and prosecutors are attentive to your cases.
  • We will ensure that you are heard when the Church is victimized.

We know that the United States continues to suffer the epidemic problem of gun-violence and active-assailant situations.  To assist with the formulation of your local plans, Here is the latest hyperlink to the Active Assailant/Shooter Emergency Action Plan Product Suite (Release Date: 06 February 2025).  The path to becoming safer begins with the very first steps and we will achieve this together.  God bless you.
