On Jan. 6th it failed, but now Christian Nationalism has seized power

The house is on fire, and Christian Nationalism lit the match.

We’ve witnessed firsthand the devastation caused by the first Trump Administration, and now he’s gearing up to push an even more dangerous, extremist agenda. The rise of Christian Nationalism under Trump and his allies is a direct assault on everything this country stands for. They’re not just trying to influence policies — they want to rewrite the rules so that religion isn’t a personal choice, but the law of the land.

This is unconstitutional. This is un-American. And it puts our democracy, our freedom, and our rights in grave danger.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

For eight decades, Americans United for Separation of Church and State has fiercely defended the core values enshrined in the First Amendment: the right to freedom of religion and the principle that government and religion must remain separate.

With the inauguration of the new Trump Administration, we expect—and are ready for—a relentless assault on the freedoms that make this country strong. With plans to issue as many as 500 executive orders upon taking office, the administration will dangerously undermine the separation of church and state, dismantle democratic checks and balances, and pave the way for policies that place religious interests above the constitutional guarantee of religious freedom.

Americans United is gearing up for the fight of our lives - that’s why we’re launching an ambitious 4-year, 5 million dollar Freedom Without Favor Fund - to arm ourselves with the resources needed to fight back against this growing threat.

The Freedom Without Favor fund will be urgently needed to fight back against the coming Christian Nationalist onslaught: from pushing for prayer in public schools, to attacking reproductive rights, to imposing harmful restrictions on LGBTQ+ Americans, Christian Nationalists are working tirelessly to reshape American laws in their image. These efforts are part of a broader agenda to empower their religion at the expense of the rights and freedoms of all Americans.

Religious extremists are trying to fuse their church into our state, and we won’t let them. Join us now - before it’s too late.

Americans United has been battling religious extremism in the courts, legislatures, and the public square since 1947. We have the experience, expertise, and the grassroots power to take on Trump and his allies - no matter how high the stakes. Our mission has never been clearer: to defend freedom without favor and equality without exception - wherever and whenever we are needed.

Help us defend your rights . . . before they’re taken from you.

With hope and determination,

Rachel K. Laser
