![]() GreenFaith USA has exciting updates to share–from new Circles and programs to powerful upcoming events. We know as authoritarian threats grow and critical environmental and social protections face cuts, we must remain unwavering in our mission: to respond with bold, faith-rooted action. This is a time for moral courage and spiritual organizing. Don’t miss these opportunities to connect, organize, and act for justice with a community grounded in hope and conviction. ------------------------------ Faith Demands Accountability: Stand Up to Wells Fargo As people of faith, we are called to care for Creation and to protect the dignity of every person. Yet Wells Fargo—already infamous for racist lending practices—is abandoning climate commitments, funding fossil fuel expansion, and bankrolling companies complicit in immigrant detention and atrocities in Gaza. It is union-busting, slashing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs, and scheming to privatize our public post office. These actions fuel climate destruction, deepen injustice, and harm the most vulnerable. Our faith traditions teach that we must confront those who exploit people and the planet for profit. This summer, we are standing together to hold Wells Fargo accountable. Join GreenFaith in demanding that Wells Fargo reinstate its climate targets, stop union busting, protect our public institutions, recommit to racial equity, and cut ties with companies profiting from war and human rights abuses. Sign and share the petition today—our faith demands it. ------------------------------ Faith, Justice, and Resistance from the Gulf South to Wall Street By Eloise Reid, Gulf South Organizer at GreenFaith Last week, over 70 frontline leaders from Louisiana and Texas—including GreenFaith organizers—traveled to New York City to confront the financial institutions fueling climate destruction in our region. I joined fellow organizers and allies to protest outside the homes and offices of Citibank, BlackRock, Chubb, and MUFG—the banks and insurers financing the toxic expansion of fossil fuel infrastructure across the Gulf South. The actions were organized by the Gulf South Fossil Finance Hub and Texas Campaign for the Environment, with deep support from NYC groups like People Over Profit and Climate Defenders. As a faith-rooted organizer, I see our actions as sacred resistance. We carried the grief and courage of our communities—especially those living in Cancer Alley, like St. Charles and St. James parishes—where asthma, cancer, and poisoned water are daily realities. These are not natural disasters; they are corporate decisions made far away, but felt deeply at home. We challenged dangerous false solutions like carbon capture—projects that extend fossil fuel harm while pretending to be clean. We also denounced Citibank’s role in funding violence in Gaza, highlighting the global connections between fossil finance and systemic oppression. I carry faith into this work—not just belief in a higher power, but belief in our collective power. Faith that organizing heals, and truth shifts power. The Gulf South is not a sacrifice zone. We are rising, rooted in justice, care, and repair. And we’re just getting started. This is an abridged version of an original article written by Eloise Reid. As people of faith and conscience, we will gather to bear witness, deliver our demands, and send a clear message: Hands off the planet. Hands off workers. Hands off our communities. Stand with us to call for justice, accountability, and a future rooted in care for creation and each other. Not in Charlotte?
